At 16 Suzie won a full scholarship to train at the London Studio Centre on the dance performers course. At 17, her dance training was cut short by the onset of generalised dystonia.
Since the onset of her condition Suzie has developed techniques that she applies in her teaching and choreography. She combines a holistic approach to dance alongside ballet and contemporary. She established ActOne ArtsBase in 2002 and since then has worked extensively as a choreographer, teacher and consultant in accessible dance.
In Suzie’s capacity as Artistic Director she is responsible for strategic development, management of the core and artistic teams and the design and development of programmes.
In addition to Suzie’s work with the company she is a freelance dancer and choreographer. She has worked as a company member for Ballet Cymru, The Scottish Ballet, Candoco and as a dancer for Marc Brew in a site specific work produced by GDance. Suzie is also proud to be a company member of Wolfgang Stange’s world-renowned integrated Dance Company Amici Dance Theatre. She is also the Artistic Director and a dancer for her own company, Arc Dance.
